Forex System Report

Name: IvyBot
Web site:   www.ivybot.com
Review date: 4 September 2009
Review period: August to September 2009
Description: This is a recent expert advisor which I am still testing, so please treat my conculsions with caution. It consists of 4 seperate expert advisors which trade on EURJPY, EURUSD, USDCHF and USDJPY. It claims to have an extremely low drawdown. The backtests look good. The claimed forward tests are impressive too.
Strengths:

The sales page quotes impressive live trading results and claims low drawdowns. Some products only quote backtest results, which are not always matched in live trading.

The manual seems to be thorough and easy to use. It includes settings for more aggressive trading (ie higher risk but potentially higher profits) which I have not tried yet.

My forward testing on a demo account produced no trades for the first week (probably a good thing - presumably the conditions weren't right for reliable profitable trades). In the second week, 6 trades were opened and closed (1 loss of 3 pips, 6 profits of 39, 39, 39, 110, 56 and 31 pips). In the third week, there were 3 trades, 1 profit of 28 pips and three losses of 26, 37 and 12 pips. There were only three trades in the fourth week, losses of 16 and 34 pips. In the fifth week, there was 1 loss of 8 pips and 1 profit of 39 pips. So, over the five weeks, the overall result was a gain of 245 pips, though only 2 of those weeks were profitable.

Weaknesses:

This system is still too new for me to provide a full analysis or to make a clear recomendation.
red minus

This system does not include any money management. You will need to set the number of lots to trade manually. They do provide guidance on this in the manual, though you should divide by 4 if you run all 4 robots together. You will need to manually adjust this value if you allow your trading account to grow.
red minus

This system only works with brokers that use 4 digits - many brokers now use 5 digits. I am going to have to open a new trading account as all of my current brokers now use 5 digits (apart from some demo accounts). They do promise that an update to address this is coming. In the meantime, if it makes good money, it may be annoying, but it's still worth opening a new account.

Conclusions:

This seems to be a great system, but it is too soon to draw reliable conclusions. The publisher warns that the price will increase from the initial $149.95.
